Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has described the continuous attacks and killing of his people by armed herders as not a farmer - herder crisis but a deliberate attempt to annihilate and occupy Benue land.
Governor Ortom's stated this when he visited victims attacked by armed herders receiving treatment at the State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, while on inspection of renovation of the hospital facility.
The Governor who condemns the barbaric attack and killing of farmers in their community by armed herders, says no sane government would allow his people be slaughtered in such a manner on allegation that farmers killed their cows, but vows to protect its citizens through the instrumentality of law.
Meanwhile, governor has promised to foot the medical bills of the victims while under treatment
