President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenures of the heads of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) by 18 months to allow time for the appointment of their successors.
Under the approval announced by the Presidency on Monday, Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche will remain in office until May 26, 2028, while Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service Kemi Nanna Nandap’s tenure will end on June 30, 2028.
The Presidency said the extensions followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to address a succession gap in both agencies and give their boards sufficient time to appoint replacements.
Tinubu commended the two service chiefs for the reforms recorded under their leadership and urged them to sustain the gains.
Nwakuche was nominated by the President in December 2024 and confirmed by the Senate in March 2025.
Nandap was nominated on February 21, 2024, and confirmed by the Senate on March 1, 2024.
