The former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has officially pulled out of the services of the Nigeria Police Force.
A ceremony steeped in symbolism marked the formal retirement of Egbetokun, bringing to a close his 36 years of service to the nation.
On the parade ground, outgoing IGP Egbetekun took the final salute in uniform.
At the pull out parade, the former IGP was ceremonially escorted as officers marched in his honour, symbolising the conclusion of his service.
Dignitaries from across Nigeria’s security and political leadership urged Egbetokun to let his actions speak for him in retirement and advised his successor to build on the gains he leaves behind.
With the baton officially handed over, Tunji Disu, now assumes the responsibility of leading the Nigeria Police Force, expected to consolidate and build on the legacy of his predecessor.
The pull-out parade remains one of the most symbolic traditions of the Force, marking both the end of an era for a retiring IGP and the beginning of a new order in police leadership.
