A Yoruba cultural group in Diaspora, Egbe Omo Yoruba North America, has berated Governors of the six South West States over the invasion of the zone by bandits.

The Yoruba group chided the governors for their inability to rise against the surge of insecurity, particularly, bandits kidnap of 39 students and 7 teachers from community schools in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, on May 15, 2026.

The Egbe Omo Yoruba North America advocated the urgent need for coordinated regional security to protect school children, teachers and school facilities, including residents in the South West.
