Protesting elders, women and youths from Egegi community in Udu local government area of Delta State have called on the Delta state government to prevail on the Chinese firm CCECC to remove blockade placed on the only access road in the community.

The firm which is responsible for the construction of the railway line leading to Itakpe in Kogi state from Delta has been accused of turning deaf ears despite series of complaint.

Speaking on the need for urgent action, the community president general and woman leader said the blocked road is the only access road leading to their farms.

An elder in the community who led the people to occupy the construction firm premises said they have no problem with the rail construction, as the chief priest who spoke in their local Urhobo language threatened spiritual implication.

Meanwhile, the Chinese and workers in the site have since vacated as a result of the protest which led to occupying the premises, as the protesters promised not to vacate the premises until the state government intervenes.
