Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has mourned the death of the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency, Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, and four of his children in a road crash.
The accident occurred on Saturday evening along Duguri Road in Alkaleri Local Government Area while the family was travelling to their village.
Another son of the deceased was injured in the crash and is receiving medical treatment.
In a condolence statement issued on Sunday, Mohammed described the deaths as a monumental loss to the state, highlighting the late official’s contributions to healthcare delivery and his commitment to public service.
He said Duguri had played an important role in advancing the state’s health contributory management system and improving access to healthcare, particularly for less privileged residents.
The governor also praised the deceased for his contributions to the state’s medical team during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia, where he helped provide healthcare services to pilgrims.
Mohammed said Duguri’s dedication to improving healthcare had distinguished him as a public servant whose work benefited the state.
The governor disclosed that the deceased was his close personal friend and classmate, describing the loss as both a personal tragedy and the death of a trusted companion.
He said the deaths of four young members of the same family in one incident made the tragedy particularly heartbreaking, adding that words could not adequately convey the pain suffered by the bereaved family.
The remains of Duguri and his four children were scheduled to be buried at 11 am on Sunday in Yalwan Duguri, according to Islamic rites.
