The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, made the call during an assessment tour of the Operation Burst base along the Igbeti-Igboho Road in Olorunsogo Local Government Area, following an attack allegedly carried out by suspected bandits over the weekend.
The Deputy Governor and his entourage were received by the Onigbeti of Igbeti, Oba Bashir Abioye, and the leader of the troops, Lieutenant Colonel Innocent, who briefed him on the incident.
According to a witness, the attackers reportedly riddled the building with bullets before setting the security post and an operational vehicle ablaze. They were, however, repelled by the security personnel stationed at the base.
Barrister Lawal also urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, warning those who harbour or aid criminal elements that they would face the full weight of the law
He further cautioned individuals involved in illegal mining activities within the area to desist, stressing that the government would not tolerate any activity capable of compromising the security of the state.
