The Benue Police Command has confirmed the death of four mobile policemen killed during an operation in Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area while repelling suspected armed bandits attacking the community at about 6:12pm last night.
The Command Public Relations Officer, Peter Ochir, said four bodies of the officers were recovered this morning during search and rescue operations while defending the community in an attack that lasted several hours. He stated that additional police operatives comprising PMF units, tactical teams and conventional police officers had been deployed to the area to sustain the operation.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the courage, resilience and gallantry displayed by the operatives and paid special tribute to the fallen officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their nation.
He also expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased civilians and the entire Ayilamo community, assuring them that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property.
