The general secretary of the textile, garment workers and tailoring of Nigeria, Issa Aremu has called for the resignation of the minister of education, Adamu Adamu, for not respecting the agreement reached with the lecturers, he claimed has plunged the nation universities into another strike.

Aremu who is a member of the national executive council of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) stated his position while fielding questions from newsmen in Ilorin, the kwara state capital.

Aremu wondered how the minster could not acknowledge several reminder letters sent by the lecturers, adding that it is high time for Nigerians to force their leaders who abdicate their responsibilities to either resign or forced to quit.

In a similar vein, the president, Nigeria association of social studies, Samuel Folorunsho urged the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the federal government to engage in a round table discussion to find lasting solutions to the impending issues.

The federal government has however appealed to the university union to suspend its ongoing strike in the universities in the interest of the nation.
