Nigerian pedicurist Olusanya Samuel is set to attempt a 48-hour Guinness World Record marathon in Akure, Ondo State, as he seeks to promote professional foot care and entrepreneurship.
Samuel, popularly known as Sam Pedicures, is scheduled to begin the attempt on October 29 and conclude on October 31 at Njay Beauty Spa & Salon in Akure.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, the event is intended to showcase the potential of Nigeria’s beauty and wellness industry while raising awareness of foot hygiene.
Samuel, a graduate of Anatomy from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, said his academic background had strengthened his understanding of human physiology and foot care.
He said his business journey began in his second year at university, when he started learning manicure and pedicure techniques.
Over more than five years, the venture grew from a side business into Sam Pedicures, a brand focused on foot hygiene and professional foot care.
“Building a business alongside my studies showed me that young Nigerians do not have to wait for employment; we can create it through skill mastery,” he said.
The record attempt is also expected to encourage young Nigerians to acquire practical skills and explore entrepreneurship while pursuing formal education.
Organisers said the event would feature live entertainment, a red-carpet experience, food and drinks, as well as free pedicure sessions for attendees.
Samuel completed his primary and secondary education in Ondo State before studying Anatomy at FUOYE.
Guinness World Records recognition is not automatic for a proposed attempt; the record must meet the organisation’s applicable rules and verification requirements.
