A Kano State lawmaker, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, has said political stakeholders in Kano North Senatorial District are targeting one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, citing the President’s support for the late Muhammadu Buhari and federal infrastructure projects in the region.

Abubakar, who represents Bichi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made the declaration on Monday at a stakeholders’ meeting and inauguration of the All Progressives Congress campaign council for his constituency in Bichi, Kano State.

He argued that Buhari’s emergence as president in 2015 was aided by Tinubu’s political support and strategic intervention, adding that Northern political leaders should reciprocate by backing Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“Tinubu made the late President Muhammadu Buhari after several unsuccessful attempts to become President. It is now time for us to compensate Tinubu for what he did for the North,” he said.

The lawmaker also defended Tinubu against allegations that his administration’s policies were directed against Northern Nigeria, pointing to federal infrastructure approvals and development projects in Kano as evidence of the President’s commitment to the region.

He said the projects had strengthened the case for supporting Tinubu in the next election.
Abubakar disclosed that Kano North had approximately 1.3 million registered voters, expressing confidence that the APC could mobilise at least one million votes for the President.

He said the party’s mobilisation efforts would extend beyond Bichi to cover Kano’s 44 local government areas.
The Kano State Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, who represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the meeting, urged members of the campaign council to work towards securing victory for APC candidates across the state.

Garo also cautioned party members against actions that could threaten peace in Kano North, urging them to adopt issue-based campaigns to persuade voters.
The Director-General of the APC presidential and governorship campaign council in Kano, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, called on the campaign team to mobilise grassroots supporters and youth groups.

Gwarzo expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the 2027 elections and urged supporters to shun violence and other actions capable of disrupting peace.
