The Federal Government has been urged to improve the welfare of medical personnel through better remuneration and incentives to address the growing brain drain in Nigeria’s health sector.
The call came from Alph Africa Managing Director Christian Onyeka Ugo during a hospital outreach where patients, particularly children, received relief materials and financial assistance toward their medical bills.
Ugo, who spoke on the need to support vulnerable patients, said the intervention aimed to ease the burden on families facing financial difficulties and encourage patients to remain hopeful despite their health challenges.
He said children were prioritised because access to healthcare should not depend on their parents’ financial circumstances.
The outreach also provided essential supplies and support to settle hospital bills, as part of efforts to ease the challenges faced by patients and their families.
Ugo called on well-meaning Nigerians and other stakeholders to complement government efforts by supporting vulnerable people and improving access to healthcare.
