The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement, APM, Seyi Makinde, has pledged to tackle insecurity, poverty and Nigeria’s energy challenges if elected president in 2027, promising greater transparency and public participation in governance.
Speaking at the party’s North-East zonal engagement in Yola, Adamawa State, Makinde criticised the Federal Government’s handling of electricity and fuel pricing, calling for the release of pricing templates to enable Nigerians to understand how petroleum product prices are determined.
The APM candidate also questioned the effectiveness of government policies on compressed natural gas, electric vehicles and crude oil supply to domestic refineries, insisting that Nigerians should be allowed to contribute ideas towards addressing the country’s economic challenges.
Makinde further expressed concern over the decisions by Chad and Niger Republic to route their crude oil pipelines through Cameroon and Benin Republic, respectively, rather than Nigeria, urging the country to address its internal challenges.
He said APM’s proposed Reset Agenda would prioritise honesty, public engagement and practical solutions, explaining that the party had delayed releasing its manifesto to accommodate concerns raised by stakeholders across the country’s geopolitical zones.
The candidate expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the North-East, noting the zone’s connection to APM’s national leadership. He also urged Nigerians to reject what he described as a politics of lies and deceit ahead of the 2027 general election.
