Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tope Adenibuyan, popularly known as Teddy A, has revealed that he and his wife, Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi, were not on speaking terms for two weeks shortly before he proposed to her.
Teddy A made the revelation during an interview featuring the couple, where they also addressed the long-standing perception that they got married because Bambam was pregnant with their first child.
According to Teddy A, the relationship was already at a difficult point when Bambam told him she was pregnant.
“Before I proposed to my wife, we were not talking for two weeks. We were fighting,” he said.
He explained that Bambam’s pregnancy made him reconsider the direction of their relationship and take responsibility for what he described as a significant moment in their lives.
Teddy A said he began questioning whether he really wanted to walk away from a relationship that had started during their time on BBNaija and had continued after the show.
He eventually sought advice from his personal assistant and brother, who encouraged him to think about how he would feel if he let the relationship end.
The advice reportedly changed his mind, prompting him to plan a surprise proposal for Bambam.
The couple's relationship began after they met as housemates on the 2018 edition of BBNaija, themed “Double Wahala.” They married in Ogun State in September 2019 and later held a white wedding in Dubai in November of the same year.
Bambam, meanwhile, maintained that the pregnancy was not the reason for their marriage.
She said if Teddy A had not wanted to marry her, there was nothing she could have done to force him into it.
The couple now have two children and have remained one of the better-known relationships to emerge from the reality show.
Teddy A had previously shared details of the proposal in a 2023 interview, revealing that they were “pretty much done” after their two-week disagreement before advice from his brother helped him reconsider.
