Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has expressed sadness over the death of gospel music minister Toluwanisings.
Toluwanisings reportedly slumped and died on Wednesday after being turned away by eight hospitals.
Reports surrounding his death have sparked outrage on social media, with Nigerians raising concerns about the country's healthcare system. Some have also attributed his death to a possible spiritual attack, although no evidence has been established to support such claims.
Reacting to the news in an Instagram post on Friday, Bassey said he had never met Toluwanisings personally but had heard about his work in music ministry.
The pastor described the loss as painful, noting that it was always difficult to see young people die in their prime.
“I’ve seen and heard about the passing of this brother, Tolusings. Not someone I’ve met before. But I’ve heard how well and great He was doing in His music ministry. Always painful to hear and see young people pass at their prime,” he wrote.
Bassey added that he believed the late singer was in a better place with God and prayed for strength and comfort for his immediate family, friends and loved ones.
“But as a child of God we believe He is in a better place. I pray strength and comfort for His immediate family, friends and loved ones. It is well, in Jesus’ name,” he added.
