Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has described the demanding filming process of actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, saying her attention to detail often requires actors to repeat scenes several times.
Kosoko made this known during an interview on the African A-List podcast, where he admitted that he sometimes felt apprehensive whenever Akindele offered him a role.
The 72-year-old actor said the filmmaker could insist on shooting a scene as many as 15 times before she was satisfied with the outcome.
He recalled instances in which scenes already completed had to be filmed again because of details that might appear insignificant, including the plates used during a scene.
“She may come the following day thinking of shooting another scene, but then she will say, ‘We have to shoot those scenes again because of the plates they brought,’” he said.
Despite the demanding process, Kosoko praised Akindele’s dedication, describing her as exceptionally hardworking.
“Even if you are a man, you can’t match her energy,” he said.
Kosoko, who has featured in Akindele’s Jenifa productions, acknowledged that her commitment to getting every detail right made working with her challenging but highlighted her strong work ethic.
Akindele is among Nollywood’s commercially successful filmmakers, with several of her productions recording significant box-office performances in Nigeria.
