Social media personality Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has appealed for forgiveness over her past comments about painful experiences, saying the death of her nine-year-old son has made her understand the depth of grief.

In an emotional video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the relationship therapist apologised to people she said might have been hurt by her remarks, admitting that she had spoken carelessly about experiences she had never personally endured.

“I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about. I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I’ve never felt. I’m sorry for speaking about it carelessly,” she said.

The apology comes days after her release on bail in late October, following her detention at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos, over separate fraud allegations.

Her son, Bryan, died in hospital on June 8, 2026, while she was in custody. The nine-year-old reportedly suffered from chronic asthma and had experienced recurring health challenges.

Speaking through tears, Okoro said she was struggling to cope with the loss and had left home to avoid being seen crying by her mother.
“I had to run away from the house. I’m inside the car because I don’t want my mum to see me like this. My family, what do you want me to do? Tell me because I’m confused. My brain is numb,” she said.

She acknowledged that her past statements had consequences, saying she had learnt that words alone could not replace meaningful actions.

“Talk is cheap. Action speaks louder than words. I’m so ashamed of myself, but I’m human. I’m bound to make mistakes, but mistakes also have a price, and I’m paying for it with my own tears,” she said.

The influencer also apologised to those who had withdrawn their support because of her actions, as well as those who had continued to stand by her.

Addressing her late son, whom she affectionately called Doom Doom, Okoro expressed regret over being absent during his final moments and promised to make amends.

“To my son who passed, whom I call Doom Doom, I miss you. I miss you, Bryan. I miss you so much, and I promise to correct every wrong,” she said.

She disclosed that the loss had devastated other members of the family, particularly her mother and the deceased's brother.
“Me and your granny used to hide to cry. I saw my mum break down this morning, and I couldn’t even look at her face,” she said.
Okoro also recalled wanting to collect Bryan's school bag, uniform, lunchbox and books, saying she hoped to preserve his belongings.

“I’m sorry, Bryan. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I’m sorry I came late,” she added.
She appealed for another opportunity to rebuild her life and relationships, describing her return to her family as a decision to start afresh.

“I’m not ashamed to be lost. I just want to find my way back. Let’s start all over again. Now I have learnt my lesson in a very hard way, and I’m sorry,” she said.
