Eight passengers sustained injuries after a commercial bus reportedly ran a red light, crashed into a solar-powered streetlight pole and overturned at Ile-Zik, Mangoro, Agege, Lagos State.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the accident occurred on Thursday while the bus, with registration number KJA-18P, was travelling towards Oshodi.
In a statement detailing emergency operations across the state between Thursday and Friday, the agency said preliminary investigations indicated that the driver failed to obey a traffic signal before attempting to avoid an oncoming vehicle from the Agege direction.

The bus subsequently rammed into the streetlight pole, overturned and came to a halt.
Eight passengers, comprising three women and five men, sustained varying degrees of injuries.
LASEMA said its paramedics, supported by the Lagos State Ambulance Service and the agency's response team, administered first aid and stabilised the victims before evacuating them to the Trauma Centre and Orile-Agege General Hospital for further treatment.
No death was recorded in the accident.
The agency said the damaged bus was recovered and towed to Isokoko Police Station for safekeeping and further investigation.
It added that emergency responders cleared the affected section of the road and restored traffic movement after implementing measures to prevent secondary accidents.
Meanwhile, LASEMA also contained a fire outbreak that destroyed several shops at 8, Fatai Atere Street, near Adealu Street, Agege.
The fire, which occurred on Thursday night, reportedly started in one of the shops before spreading to adjoining shops built against the perimeter fence of a storey building.
According to the agency, the inferno affected about four shops, destroying goods and merchandise kept for sale.
The flames also damaged windows and sections of the roof of the adjoining building.
LASEMA said the immediate cause of the fire had yet to be established, adding that the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service deployed personnel to contain the outbreak and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring structures.
The agency said the fire was completely extinguished and dampening-down operations concluded, with no casualties or injuries recorded.
It added that the affected area had been secured.
LASEMA urged motorists to obey traffic signals and other road safety regulations, while advising drivers and transport operators to maintain their vehicles regularly.
The agency also urged shop owners to observe fire safety precautions and encouraged residents to report emergencies through the state's toll-free emergency lines.
