According to reports, the singer was upset after the Kenyan star of '12 Years a Slave' allegedly made derogatory remarks about Whitenicious, Dencia's bleaching cream.

According to the report, Dencia tweeted the following:

"... I won't accept a role because they think I look like a slave, I work hard and decide what I want 2 do but she can't do that, the white man got their lil slave lol."

However Lupita's speech was not intended as an insult for Dencia or her bleaching cream.

An excerpt from her speech reads as follows:

"I want to take this opportunity to talk about beauty, black beauty, dark beauty.

"I received a letter from a girl and I’d like to share just a small part of it with you.

"'Dear Lupita,' it reads, 'I think you’re really lucky to be this black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia's Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and saved me.'"
