A former member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu has been declared the winner of the party's Governorship primaries held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library auditorium, Abeokuta.

 This came after Segun Showunmi has been declared the winner by another faction of the party held at the NUJ Press Centre, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta. At the OOPL venue, there was initial disagreement on the delegate list by loyalists of Jimi Lawal and of Oladipupo Adebutu.

 Adebutu emerged as the Governorship Candidate of the Party with 714 votes out of the 715 delegates who were accredited for the exercise. One void vote was recorded in the exercise while other aspirants got no votes. Speaking after he has been declared the winner of the exercise, Oladipupo Adebutu appreciates God and the support of the people.
