Tottenham's goal drought in the Premier League has finally ended, but it happened amid another challenging game. In their fifth match of the 2026/27 season, Spurs found the net as Conor Gallagher scored in the 86th minute during the home game against Aston Villa. This goal reduced the score to 1-3 and stopped Tottenham's unusual run of scoring no league goals.

Roberto De Zerbi's team had failed to score in their first four Premier League matches. Tottenham started the season with losses to Brentford and Newcastle, followed by back-to-back goalless draws with Nottingham Forest and Everton.

The fifth game brought more disappointment for Tottenham. Aston Villa secured the first goal through Johan Manzambi right before halftime. Nicolas Jackson then doubled the visitors' lead in the 67th minute. Emiliano Buendía added a third for Villa in the 79th minute.

Despite the odds, Gallagher's goal gave the Tottenham fans something to cheer about late in the game. While it ended the team's scoring drought, they still trailed Villa by two goals.

Interestingly, Gallagher also netted Tottenham's only goal in their recent 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat against Liverpool. The midfielder has now scored in consecutive matches across different competitions.
