Victor Osimhen has taken another step towards returning to competitive action after joining part of Galatasaray’s team training ahead of Friday’s Turkish Super Lig clash with Kasımpaşa.

The Nigeria international, who has been sidelined with a groin injury, participated in the opening stages of Galatasaray’s training session on Tuesday at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities.

Osimhen completed the initial exercises with his teammates before switching to an individual programme supervised by the club’s medical staff as he continues his recovery.

The 27-year-old’s return to partial team training is a positive development for Galatasaray, although the club is expected to manage his workload carefully before deciding whether he is fit enough to feature against Kasımpaşa at Rams Park on Friday.

Galatasaray’s training included a dynamic warm-up, passing drills, possession exercises and a small-sided game.

Osimhen’s fitness will also be closely monitored with the Turkish champions facing Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League four days after the Kasımpaşa fixture.

Midfielder Mario Lemina and goalkeeper Günay Güvenç completed the full session, while defenders Wilfried Singo and Roland Sallai continued their rehabilitation programmes away from the main group.

Galatasaray will hold another training session on Wednesday as preparations continue for the league encounter.
