Novak Djokovic secured his 102nd career title after Alex de Minaur withdrew due to injury in the China Open final.
At 39, Djokovic was leading the match 7-6 (7-3), 0-1 when the Australian player retired with what appeared to be a left thigh injury.
Both athletes took medical timeouts following a 68-minute first set, but De Minaur only managed to win one game upon resumption before they shook hands.
This victory marks Djokovic's 21st consecutive year claiming at least one singles title.
Only Jimmy Connors, with 109 titles, and Roger Federer, with 103, have surpassed Djokovic's career total.
He remains undefeated at the China Open in 34 matches, having lifted the trophy seven times.
"I always have high expectations and want to visualise myself with the trophy, but particularly here in Beijing, the place where I've never lost," Djokovic was quoted by the BBC.
"This trophy means much more than one trophy, one tournament."
