Nigerian short sprint record-holders, Blessing Okagbare, and Divine Oduduru are among the stars on parade at the 2019 All Nigeria Track and Field Championship taking place in Kaduna.

The annual championship, which serves as trials for athletes that will represent Nigeria at the 2019 African Games in Casablanca, Morocco and the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championship in Doha, Qatar, has set the Mondo tracks of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna alight.

As athletes show their prowess to contest for the national title and a ticket to the two championships in the races, throws and jumps, records are expected to tumble especially in the men 100m and 200m events, where US-based Oduduru has recently shown hot streak in the NCAA.

The triple jump, the female sprints and quarter miles and the javelin throw are other events where top performances and strong contests are expected.

Speaking on the readiness of Athletics Federation of Nigeria for the three days fiesta that would feature top Nigerian athletes across the globe, AFN Technical Director, Sunday Adeleye said that they are ready to organize one of the best trails in recent years.

Some athletes who spoke to our correspondent in Kaduna express their optimism to reach the target they set for themselves.
