Coutinho: Why I Left Liverpool For Barcelona
Barcelona’s new record signing Coutinho has declared that he is “very happy” to have signed for the club for whom he had dreamed of playing and scoring.
Brazil midfielder Coutinho, who cost £142m from Liverpool, was officially unveiled as Barcelona player on Monday after passing his medicals.
“It’s really emotional to wear the shirt of the most important club in the world. I never had any doubts about signing for the club and it’s an honour to be able to play alongside my heroes. I hope to enjoy it and win trophies,'' Coutinho said during his first press conference.
Coutinho revealed that Neymar, the costliest player in history who left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain for £200m in the summer, had a hand in his Camp Nou move.
“I am good friends with Neymar and we have known each other since we were kids. “We play together for the national side and he told me great things about the club. He told me that the dressing room was incredible, as did Luis Suárez and Paulinho.”
The 25-year-old Brazil star has no regrets missing out on the Champions League for which he is cup-tied having played in it for Liverpool this season.
