The State House bureaucracy has denied any involvement in the registration of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC.

Appearing before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee probing the council, Abdulkadri Idris, representing State House Permanent Secretary, said the State House only became aware of the PFIPC through media reports and never requested a budget code for it.

He described documents linking the Presidency to the council as fake, saying the alleged signatory, Akande Adewale, never worked at the State House.

He also told the lawmakers that no Directorate of Administration and Support Services exists in the Presidency; and that appointments of Directors-General are handled through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, not the State House.

Lawmakers observed that the testimony exposed discrepancies in documents from the office of the Accountant-General.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, said the Corps issued seven official number plates to PFIPC after verifying its office, documents, and website, which listed President Bola Tinubu and other senior government officials as board members.

He said the FRSC later discovered PFIPC was not a recognised federal agency and has begun retrieving the number plates.

The committee directed the FRSC to report the status and location of the vehicles.

The panel said the PFIPC was inserted into government processes without approval, raising questions about how it got budget codes and official privileges.

The committee may conclude the investigation next Wednesday.
