Police Order Dismantling Of Illegal Checkpoints, Roadblocks In Benue
Benue State Police Command has ordered the dismantling of all illegal checkpoints, road blocks and unauthorised revenue collection points across the State.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, said the directive affects all routes, with particular emphasis on federal highways, including Makurdi Lafia, Makurdi-Gboko, Ugbema-Vandeikya, Gboko-Aliade, and Otukpo-Otukpa roads, among others.
The CP said the measure is aimed at enhancing public safety, free flow of traffic, and curbing incidence of harassment, extortion, and other unwholesome practices commuters encounter on Benue roads.
CP Nwadiogbu who mandated all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Unit Commanders to ensure strict and immediate compliance within their areas of responsibility. He said anyone who violated such directives will be dealt with except those mandated or approved by appropriate authorities.
The Commissioner warned that anyone violating the directive will be dealt with and reassured residents and road users of their safety in Benue State.
