The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has approved a 13-member Interim National Working Committee, INWC, with Taminu Kabiru Turaki as the Interim National Chairman, and Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja as National Secretary.

The decision came at the party’s 103rd NEC meeting, attended by 142 members, meeting the two-thirds threshold.

Presiding as Pro-tem Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, PDP BoT Chairman, said the move was part of efforts to stabilize and reposition the party. He urged members to close ranks, warning of alleged attempts by the APC and suspended members to weaken the PDP.

Wabara also called on INEC to reflect the changes in line with the Supreme Court ruling, stressing the party’s supremacy.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State expressed confidence in the PDP’s rebound, urging members to stay focused and back the interim leadership.

Earlier, BoT Secretary, Aliyu Mu'azu Babangida, said the meeting was convened to install a new leadership and move the party forward.

In his acceptance, Turaki pledged to rebuild the PDP and lead it to victory in the 2027 elections.
