The Kaduna State Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Usman Bawa, has condemned the attack on the party’s campaign rally in Kafanchan.

The governorship candidate made his position known in a statement on Monday in Kaduna, issued by his spokesperson, Yusuf Idris.

Bawa, popularly known as ABG, condemned the violent incident involving the campaign rally of the party’s House of Representatives candidate in Kafanchan on Monday.

Bawa described the attack as primitive and dangerous to the survival of democracy, warning that such acts could undermine peaceful political participation.

He said the incident further demonstrated the desperation of some political leaders to heat up the polity and create unnecessary tension among the people.

Bawa urged the government to create an enabling environment for all parties to campaign and present their manifestos to voters.

According to him, the ruling party should create an enabling environment for us in the opposition to sell our manifestos to the public.

Bawa said the attack was also an indication that those responsible lacked confidence in their ability to deliver democratic dividends to the people.

He urged security agencies to remain neutral and fair in handling political activities before, during and after the 2027 general elections.

The PDP candidate said the Kafanchan incident highlighted the dangers ahead as the 2027 elections approach, urging stakeholders to protect democratic values.

Bawa maintained that those behind the attack were intimidated by the growing popularity of the PDP and its candidates among Nigerians.

He urged PDP supporters to remain calm despite provocations, assuring them that victory for the party was achievable, God willing.
