Okpebholo Takes Protest To BEDC Management

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has, personally, taken the mass protest of electricity outage, which commenced on Tuesday, to the management of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC.

The governor had joined the protest when civil society groups that organized the mass action arrived his office at Government House, Benin City, to register their grievances. He promised to break the monopoly of the BEDC in electrify distribution in Edo State. Governor Okpebholo, in deliberation with the BEDC management, urged them to find a lasting solution to the epileptic power supply in the state.

The governor, alongside some members of his EXCO, met at the Government House, Benin city.

Addressing the BEDC team, Governor Okpebholo said the meeting became necessary taking into consideration the notice of one month total blackout by the BEDC to residents in the state capital.

The representative of the BEDC exonerated the power distribution outfit of any complicity.

Some civil society groups had protested, alongside the governor, the epileptic power supply in the state on Tuesday.
