A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State, Abayomi Hunye, has rejected the May 21 primary election where Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, was nominated as the candidate for 2027 elections.

Hunye, at a press conference in Abeokuta, called on the state and national leadership of the party to cancel the May 21 governorship primary election and conduct a fresh priamry.

Hunye protested that some APC leaders were attempting to undermine democratic principles by imposing a preferred candidate on members, instead of allowing them to freely choose their governorship candidate.

Hunye maintained that despite his name appearing on the ballot and supporters turning out to vote for him in the presence of election officials, the final result recorded zero votes for him.

The APC governorship aspirant disclosed that he has taken his concerns to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and appealed to the party's national leadership to organize a fresh primary that will uphold democratic principles and reflect the true choice of party members.
