PDP chieftain blasts Okorocha
Following the recent development concerning local government autonomy and the decision of Nigeria financial intelligence unit, NFIU on local government finance, a chieftain of the PDP and public analyst Engineer Kingsley Onwubiko have described the idea as a welcome one.
Engineer Kingsley who spoke to newsmen in Owerri the Imo state capital described the local government situation of the state over the period of eight years of the incumbent governor Rochas Okorocha as a total failure.
Given the analysis of local government funds embezzled over the period under review, the Chieftain said billions of naira belonging to local government have been spent unaccounted for.
Speaking further the former head of works, ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs said it is only a functional local government administration that can solve the problem of poverty as it brings government closer to the grass root.
He, however, called on the incoming Governor Emeka Ihedioha to set the ball rolling upon assumption of office in ensuring that his promises to the people especially that of a working local government system is put in place promptly.
