Governor Akpabio Commends President Jonathan Led Administration
Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State says President Goodluck Jonathan deserves commendation for his adherence to the Rule of Law and respect for the nation’s judiciary. Akpabio said this while reacting to the political development in Adamawa state, after a meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The governor who spoke against the backdrop of the Federal Government’s obedience to Wednesday’s judgment of an Abuja Federal High Court, which ordered swearing in of Mr. Bala Ngilari as Adamawa State governor explained that the incumbent governor could have found justice but for the kind heart of the president. He said what happened in Adamawa, is a function of the fact that the president respects judicial pronouncements and the judiciary. He described developments in Adamawa as an aspect of family business for the PDP as Ngilari he said refused to defect to the All Progressive Congress. Akpabio said the people democratic party governors would welcome Ngilari to their forum soon. Akpabio, who is the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, also said that the recent endorsement of President Good-luck Jonathan as the sole presidential candidate of the party would deepen the country’s democracy. Recall that the court nullified the purported resignation of Ngilari, who was deputy to impeached Gov. Murtala Nyako, and ordered his immediate swearing in. Few hours after the ruling, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Bello Adoke, issued a statement directing the Chief Judge of Adamawa to immediately swear him in as governor.
