Bukola Saraki Sworn In As Senate President

A new senate president has been sworn in earlier today, former governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki, has been elected Senate President.

He defeated his party's prefered candidte Ahmed Lawan, to emerge as winner.

According to reports from Premium times The election for the office of Senate Deputy President is still ongoing. Immediate past deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, is contesting against Ali Ndume from Borno State.

He is expected to win the race following a power sharing deal that had the minority but influential PDP back the new senate president.
