Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has pledged to complete all ongoing projects before the end of his tenure on May 29.
Mohammed is serving his second term in office after his first inauguration on May 29, 2019.
He promised to ensure good governance and timely completion of projects in spite of heightened electioneering campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor said this at the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Tuesday in Bauchi.
Mohammed said that the forthcoming elections would not distract him from performing his constitutional responsibilities.
He said that the remaining months of his administration would be devoted to consolidating achievements and strengthening its development legacy.
The governor emphasised the need for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), to intensify efforts toward achieving budget targets and completing of ongoing capital projects.
He listed roads, healthcare, education and agriculture among priority projects requiring urgent attention.
Mohammed also urged public office holders to shun bureaucratic delays and lackadaisical attitudes to work, noting that time was essential as the administration prepared to complete its tenure in 2027.
He stressed the need for strict adherence to public procurement laws, financial regulations and accountability in the management of public resources.
On security, Mohammed pledged continued support to security agencies through the provision of operational vehicles, accommodation and logistics.
He also called for impartiality among security agencies ahead of the general elections.
“The government will not tolerate political thuggery, breach of public peace or acts capable of undermining the security of the state.
“The success of an administration is determined by its achievements and legacy rather than its beginning.
“My priority is ensuring that citizens continue to benefit from the administration’s development agenda until the tenure expires,” he said.
