The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar will campaign across all 36 states ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with plans to engage voters beyond major rallies.
Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, said the campaign would include town hall meetings, community engagements and visits to local government areas and villages.
Speaking on ARISE News on Sunday, Shaibu said the campaign timetable would be released soon and that no state would be excluded from Atiku’s engagements.
He dismissed suggestions that the former vice-president’s campaign would focus mainly on northern Nigeria, arguing that economic hardship affected Nigerians across the country.
“The man who is hungry in Zamfara is the same as the man who is hungry in Lagos,” Shaibu said, adding that the campaign would provide opportunities for Atiku to listen directly to voters and understand their concerns.
He expressed confidence in Atiku’s chances nationwide, saying the former vice-president’s appeal extended across the country.
The ADC’s planned campaign contrasts with President Bola Tinubu’s decision to limit his personal participation in All Progressives Congress rallies to 12 states.
At the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on October 14, Tinubu said he would not accompany the campaign team to every state because of his responsibilities as president.
He said governance required his attention, alongside the need to meet the country’s financial obligations and attract investors.
A campaign timetable reported by PUNCH indicated that Tinubu was scheduled to attend rallies in 12 states, beginning in Kaduna on October 24 and ending in Lagos on January 9, 2027.
Political parties are expected to intensify nationwide mobilisation as they prepare for the 2027 presidential election.
