The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the 2027 general elections, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has reiterated his policy statement on subsidy, insisting that he will return subsidy.

Atiku asserted that "Nigeria is rich enough to look after the welfare of the citizens." He lamented that subsidy has driven more Nigerians into poverty than any other time in history. Atiku declared that the fundamental responsibility of government is the welfare of the people.

Atiku, addressing a visiting group of supporters, promised that he will Secure the country.
Atiku further declared, inter alia: "We are competing with thieves.
"They stole the election; now they have stolen the economy; they have stollen everything."
