ASUU Protests Kidnap Of Varsity Lecturer In Delta

The Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) Delta state university Abraka chapter, have stormed the streets of Asaba the state capital, to protest against the kidnap of one of their members Dr. Nyerhovwo  Tonukari and his younger brother Mr. Tega Tonukari who have been in kidnappers den for forty-seven days .

The protesting lecturers armed with placards of different inscriptions, and led by the chairman of the union Professor Abel Diakparomre, called on the state government to facilitate the release of the lecturer as several attempts by the government have failed.

Addressing lecturers at the Asaba campus of the university, the ASUU chairman disclosed that members of the union are being kidnapped on a daily basis.

Speaking further, he stated that the regular kidnap of their members cannot guarantee their services any longer.

Meanwhile, When contacted, the special assistant to the Delta state governor Mr. Toju Ayu said government was on top of the issue, adding that the governor had always condemn every act of kidnapping in the state.
