The Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum (NDENYLF), has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure free, fair and credible elections in 2027.

Dr Legborsi Yamaabana, the spokesperson, made the call at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Friday.

Yamaabana urged political actors in the Niger Delta to uphold democratic rules in the conduct of the elections.

He urged INEC to be impartial, transparent, and conduct the polls in accordance with extant laws.

The NDENYLF spokesperson urged Niger Delta youths to reject political violence, electoral manipulation and attempts by politicians to use them for selfish reasons.

“We are warning our youths against allowing themselves to be used by desperate politicians before, during and after the elections.

“We reaffirm commitment to peace, justice, accountability and the protection of the collective interests of the Niger Delta people,” he said.

He said that the group would formally communicate its position on the 2027 general elections to the public in the coming days.

The youth leader further said that the group would pursue its resolutions through policy petitions, institutional dialogue, public monitoring and peaceful civic action.

“We call on all levels of government to support the call for peaceful and credible elections,” he said.
