The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected claims of collusion in a legal dispute involving the Senator David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying it had no role in the case.
In a statement, the APC said ADC members accuse the party and criticize the judiciary when court rulings go against them, but praise the courts when decisions favour them. It described the ADC’s response to the latest ruling as inconsistent with respect for judicial independence.
The dispute stems from a legal challenge brought by ADC national officers against the Mark-led faction’s leadership. The APC said it was neither a party to the case nor involved in the dispute. It said the challenge concerned the leadership’s takeover of the party, which the statement alleged violated the rule of law and the ADC’s internal democratic processes.

The APC said a ruling delivered yesterday by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja removed the Mark-led leadership and nullified its official actions, including its primary election processes and outcomes. The party said the judgment reflected the independence of Nigeria’s judiciary and the operation of the rule of law.
The APC urged the ADC to appeal if it disagreed with the decision, rather than direct partisan criticism at the ruling party or issue threats. It also accused the ADC of using rhetoric that could incite unrest.
The statement described the ADC as unfit to govern and said the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s administration remained committed to democracy, the rule of law and good governance.
