VC reveals reason for change of university name
The Vice-Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Professor Blessing Didia says the change in the school name from science and technology is for improved academic development.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, the state capital, Professor Didia said it is part of efforts to develop education in the state.
He explained that the school allows students' union to run their affairs, towards discouraging cultism and negative vices and that admissions are given to eligible candidates on merit.
Some students appreciated the vice-chancellor for his style of leadership and commended him for making the environment conducive for learning.
The VC appreciated the students for their patience and urged them to focus more on their studies.
Formerly known as rivers state university of science and technology, the institution was changed and renamed in 2017.
