Three die in collapse building

Barely 48 hours after the twin building collapsed in Imo state,  another  building has collapsed in Oforola community, in Owerri west local government area of state.


The incident has sent three to their early graves while several others were left with various degrees of injuries.

One of the occupants of the building, identified simply as Mati,  a native of Mbaise,  his wife and their five children were trapped in the building.

‎Chief of staff operations to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Kingsley Uju and the managing director, Owerri capital development authority Chika Nnajiofor together with the permanent secretary ministry of lands and urban planning led the rescue team to the village to ascertain the level of damage.

Meanwhile,   representative of the traditional ruler and another leader in the community condemned  the unfortunate incident while attributing it to carelessness on the part of the owner of the house.

They also berated government officials for not doing any checks to help forestall incidences of building collapse.

‎However, the deputy governor prince Eze Madumere, reiterated the continuous efforts to protect lives and properties in the state.
