Police deploys officers to Oyigbo community

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed has said that the state police has deployed its officers to restore normalcy in Oyigbo, after an outbreak of violence clashes in the community.


The Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni disclosed this to Galaxy Television correspondent via the telephone.
The police spokesman said officers of the command have been deployed to the area to ensure peace and order.

Some victims of the clash blamed the Nigerian Army for its alleged involvement in the clash.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army Deputy Director, Public Relations, Colonel Aminuiliyasu, via a telephone interview, debunked the involvement of the Nigeria Army in the community clash.

He however said the army has not yielded to any distress call from Oyigbo, and tasked the general public to maintain peaceful coexistence among one another.
