Authorities of Oyo state Police Command have commenced recruitment of able-bodied indigenes of the state into the community policing squad.

The Commissioner of police in the state, Shina Olukolu who made the disclosure at the sideline of an event in Ibadan disclosed that community police remain a credible panacea to lingering spate of insecurity across the country.

Commissioner of Police disclosed that the screening of the applicants is being carried out with the support of traditional rulers in various communities.

He explained that this measure would ensure that credible citizens are recruited into the squad for proper identification.

Olukolu, therefore, called for the support and cooperation of all residents for the success of the initiative as well as the security of lives and property of residents.
