IGP solicits support in tackling insecurity

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has declared that the spate of insecurity, couple with other violent crimes have seriously challenged the ingenuity of the Nigeria Police Force

Speaking in Abuja during the official flagged off the special intervention, Egbetokun called for the support of all Nigerians in this regard.

Galaxt Tv News reports that the Inspector General of Police squad (SIS) training for commanders was designed for the challenges associated with responsibility of taking up lead positions in combating the scourge of kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, terrorism and other evolving challenges of crime confronting our society.

While launching the squad in conjunction with US government in Abuja, IGP noted that Nigeria like many other parts of the globe, is experiencing security challenges arising from the activities of the criminal elements seeking to undermine the peace and security of the nation.

The police boss maintained that the Force in this drive found a willing and dependable ally in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), an agency of the American Government, which volunteered to train the officers of the SIS.

Speaking earlier, the representative of US embassy, Jason Smith said as a partner, US decided to help support NPF to achieve the goals and aims of the SIS, to protect the people of Nigeria, to improve the economy, protect the rights and freedoms of the people.

The Squad was primarily established for the purpose of confronting every situation that threatens the peace of the citizenry and restore law and order across the nation.

Recall that,the special intervention Squad (SIS) was launched on the 17 January 2024 in FCT.
