Gunmen kidnap Adamawa professor, kill brother

Gunmen kidnap Adamawa professor, kill brother

 Adamu Zata, a professor of soil science in Modibbo Adamawa University of Technology (MOUTECH), Yola, Adamawa state, has been kidnapped.


The kidnappers also killed the professor's younger brother, Dr. Sheda Zata, a veterinary doctor.

 A family member told Galaxy news that armed kidnappers numbering more than ten, broke into the house of the professor in Girei, around 2:00 am Monday and took him on gunpoint, killing his younger brother, Dr. Sheda, 49 years old.

Professor Zata, was sometimes in October last year abducted at the same residence, located some 100 meters from the Girei Divisional Police station and his family reportedly paid a ransom of N2 million to secure his release.

DSP Suleiman Nguroje, of the state police command, confirmed the incident via a phone call "that it took place at about 2:00 am, and that already, the commissioner of Police has deployed operatives to apprehend the kidnappers".

He furthered said that remains of the victim has been deposited at the Specialists Hospital Yola.
