Governors demand 13% derivation

Governors demand 13% derivation

Governors from the South South Geo-political zones have demanded the payment of thirteen percent derivation due them, from the one billion dollars the federal government intend to withdraw from the excess crude account to fund the fight against Boko Haram.


This was the deliberation after a closed door meeting at the Rivers state government house with the governors of Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom, Edo and the host governor Nyesom Wike in attendance.

Briefing journalists at the end of the meeting, the Bayelsa state governor Seriake Dickson states the position of the governors.

Speaking further, he stressed their support for the clamor on restructuring, and disagreed with the federal government on the management of the proposed  water resources bill.

The  South South governors' meeting which was last held in Delta state,  was agreed by the governors to be held in Akwa-Ibom state at a date yet to be decided by the governors.
