Environment: Oyo Government begins aggressive campaign For waste disposal and recycling

As part of measures to curtail flooding and other environmental hazards, Oyo State Government has begun an aggressive campaign against indiscriminate waste disposal across major markets in the state.

Not only that, but the government, in collaboration with waste management Consultants, has also embarked on sensitizing the people to the benefits of waste recycling.

The campaign, which started last month, was aimed at curtailing the uncoordinated disposal of waste in the state, especially among traders in the markets.

At the Bodija market, traders were enlightened on the modalities and procedures initiated by the Makinde-led administration for waste disposal and efforts toward Waste recycling.

The Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on Environment, Engr. Ademola Aderinto, decried the poor attitude of residents regarding waste disposal while Deborah Fadeyi, the Chief Sustainability Officer of the Waste Consultant, emphasized the need for residents to follow the laid down rules in this regard.

They stressed the need for people to place value on waste through recycling and regeneration for economic values.
