Delta government warns against teaches harassment

As teachers in Delta state prepare to return to school tomorrow after the meeting by the state governor Dr. Ifeanyi  Okowa with the NUT, the commissioner for Basic education Mr. Chiedu  Ebie has warned the National Union of Teachers against harassing teachers from returning to classes.

He gave the warning while speaking with our correspondent Dele Fasan in Warri, on the decision of the state government to reach an agreement with the teachers.

Speaking on teacher’s welfare, the commissioner said harassing teachers is unacceptable as efforts are on to pay their salaries.

On the increase in the number of children hawking in the state, he blamed it on the parents whom he asked to play their roles.

Meanwhile, the Delta state government have set today aside for mourning on the three principals and a vice principal who lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident, while the commissioner could not speak on the issue as a result of alleged bias against him by the teachers.
