Residents of Onitsha are yet to overcome the shock of the building collapse that led to the death of two persons including the site engineer.

 The collapse which was blamed on the use of substandard materials has been described as sad and unfortunate.

Our correspondent Ajibade Awofeso was at the scene of the incident and now files in his report.

Upon arrival at the tragic scene, residents were seen still clustering around and praying for the safe rescue of the remaining victims still trapped under the rubbles.

The look on their faces tells of grief and sadness and will probably remain so for weeks to come.

Some respondents who were on ground trying to contain the situation while speaking to Galaxy news, said they have been trying their best to rescue all persons still trapped under the rubble.

They blamed the site engineer for using sub-standard materials and not conforming to standard building ethics.

They, however, regretted the absence of security agencies and government agencies to ensure caution unlines at the tragic site.
